司迪妮（凯瑟琳?贝勒 Kathleen Beller 饰）是一位非常年轻的姑娘，对待生命的态度充满了热忱，可是，这样一个美好的女孩，在上帝的作弄之下，她的生命只剩下6个月的时间了，而唯一能够延长她寿命的方法，就是去接受价值不菲的手术。司迪妮的丈夫是一名工人，手术所要花费的数额对于他们这样的家庭来说堪称天价。
